From creation to liberation of Albania

Football in Albania originated in the beginning of the 20th century. In 1931, the first national soccer championship in Albania was won by SK Tirana, while the first international match was held in Shkodra at the time of the First World War. It was a meeting between an Albanian team and an Austro-Hungarian military team.

A true and organized development, football in our country took in the years of the Albanian Kingdom, where in 1930 were created national sports organizations that had not existed before. And this year, 1930, Albania is accepted as a member of FIFA, the Union of Football Federation Federations. By 1939, in the national championships there was a great rivalry between Tirana and Vllaznia, where the winner came out first, but there were also many other teams like Skënderbeu, Flamurtari, etc., who started rivaling with the two teams on bigger and stronger in that period.
